ABOUT PROJECT SOAR
BACKGROUND
Project Soar is non-profit 501(c)3 organization, registered in the U.S. and Morocco. The organization was founded in 2013 by Morocco-based American social entrepreneurs, Maryam Montague and Chris Redecke.
Project Soar's girl-centered curriculum offers 50 workshops to empower teenage girls in the developing world. The program is based off the 5 Pillars of Empowerment that help adolescent girls understand their Value, Voice, Body, Rights and Path.
LOCATIONS
Project Soar's Flagship center is on the outskirts of Marrakech. The organization also has 24 other sites across Morocco that implement the program, by bringing the curriculum, supplies and support to teenage girls in need.
RESULTS
To date Project Soar has worked to empower 397 Moroccan girls with the help of 313 volunteers and 26 female facilitators. There have been 221 hours of empowerment workshops and 601 hours of academic support, including high school entry exam prep courses. In order to at attend Project Soar, girls must take the Project Soar Pledge, promising to stay in school.
